what to do if turned down

  • It is possible to reapply if the reason for which you may have been turned down has been corrected
  • For example Mortgage Arrears or CCJ's may have to be paid off from your own earnings and income first rather than borrowing
  • Most existing loans including credit cards can be restructured to spread the repayments if you speak to your lender. However you must take independent advise first. Credit cards will become unusable if you have difficulties keeping up with repayments
  • Properties with negative equity usually correct themselves with time although it is currently all plans have been removed
  • In the event of undue strain or hardship the 'Citizens Advise Bureaux' may be found helpful & supportive
  • Debt advise is available free but applicants should seek legal advise at the earliest possible moment if lenders threaten. A small fee may be payable for consultation
